About Dr.Haru & Kiko
Haru is an experienced doctor specializing in intestinal health for the last 15 years in Japan.
Kiko is a pharmacist in Japan and love to grow vegetables & cook vital foods.
From their experiences in healthcare field, as well as one of their children’s sever sensitivity and allergy to multiple food items, they have realized the limitation of the modern medicine especially in the chronic illness. They have also discovered the healing power in the fermented foods not only for the gastrointestinal health but also overall wellness. Just like in the Japanese proverb “what you eat is what you treat”.
Through these realizations, they have spent last several years perfecting making Japanese traditional fermented foods, and became eager to share and promote the Japanese fermented food in people’s daily lives.
Meanwhile, they have come to Salt Spring Island in Canada to visit their friends and fell in love with the nature and people in Canada. Six months later, they and their four children all left their home country and landedin Canada and dive into the new life adventure!
Dr. Haru and Kiko has now established their company, CULTU-RICE, in Vancouver Island with a hope of introducing high quality Koji products that they are proud to recommend from a doctor’s and pharmacist’s stand point of view with love and sincerity.
